FAQ: Road bike, MTB, gravel & e-bike rental on Fuerteventura

On Fuerteventura you can rent road bikes, MTBs, gravel bikes and e-bikes – perfect for tours around Costa Calma and Jandía Aldiana. Here you’ll find the most important questions & answers about bike rental in cooperation with Volcano Bike Fuerteventura.
★★★★★ Ø 4.8 out of 5 · over 500 reviews*
Which bikes can I rent on Fuerteventura? You can rent road bikes for fast coastal and mountain stages, gravel bikes for mixed terrain, MTBs for trails and tracks, and e-bikes / e-MTBs. The bikes are adapted to Fuerteventura’s conditions – with suitable gearing for wind and long climbs.
How does the reservation for a rental bike work?Just send us a message with your travel dates, height and preferred bike type (road bike, MTB, gravel, e-bike) and where you’re staying (e.g. Costa Calma, Jandía Aldiana). We check availability with Volcano Bike Fuerteventura and confirm the right bike for you. The earlier you reserve, the better – especially during school holidays and in winter.
How much does bike rental on Fuerteventura cost?Depending on the category, prices start at around €25 per day for a road bike, MTB or gravel bike. For several days the daily rate decreases with tiered pricing. E-bikes are a bit more expensive, but they give you support in the wind and on long climbs. You’ll get detailed price lists on request or directly in the Volcano Bike shop.
Which pedals and setup options are available? You can choose your pedals freely: flat, SPD, SPD-SL or Look Keo. We adjust the saddle height and, if needed, the stem and cockpit to fit you. If you want to bring your own pedals or saddle, we can usually mount them – just let us know in advance.
What should I know about renting an e-bike / e-MTB?E-bikes are ideal if you want to ride more elevation or longer distances without going full gas all the time. You’ll get the bike with a charged battery and, if you like, tips on range and support modes. Important: please already mention in your request that you want an e-bike – the number of e-bikes is limited.
What equipment is included with the rental bike? The rental bikes come well maintained and include a pump and spare tube. Helmets can often be rented as well, but we recommend bringing your own helmet. Jerseys, bibs, shoes, gloves and glasses you bring yourself – that way you ride in your usual setup.
Where do I pick up my rental bike?Volcano Bike Fuerteventura is based in the south of the island – around Costa Calma, Jandía and Aldiana. Depending on your accommodation you’ll get information about the exact handover point: directly in the shop, at a station or by arrangement near your hotel. We clarify the details with you before you arrive.
Should I bring my own bike or rent one locally? Both options are possible. Your own bike is perfect if you know your setup 100%. Renting locally is usually more relaxed: no bike transport on the plane, no risk of frame damage and a bike that’s tuned to the wind, climbs and roads on Fuerteventura. Many riders combine both: their own power meter, rental bike on site.
Are there suitable GPX routes for the rental bike?Yes. On noheroes.de you can download GPX / KML routes for road bike, MTB and gravel around Costa Calma and Jandía. This way you combine your rental bike with self-guided tours or use the tracks as a base that we can adapt to your level together.
Am I insured when renting a bike? The exact conditions depend on the individual rental company. As a rule, you’re liable for gross negligence and damage to the bike. We recommend checking your travel insurance and briefly checking the bike’s condition when you receive it. You’ll get detailed information about coverage directly from Volcano Bike.
